“What is Bullying?”
Bullying is repeated unwanted and unkind behavior to another person or people.
Bullying is often seen at a school or during education but can also be at work and and in other environments.
Verbal forms of bullying:
- Name calling
- Threatening
- Inappropriate comments
- Teasing
Social or relational forms of bullying:
- Telling someone not to be friends with a certain person
- Embarrassing someone in public or in social situations
- Spreading rumors about someone
- Leaving someone out of a situation deliberately
Physical forms of bullying:
- Kicking
- Hitting
- Spitting
- Pinching
- Tripping
- Pushing
Cyber forms of bullying:
- Posting things about someone on a website
- Starting rumors online
- Sending not nice emails or messages
- Continuously harassing someone online
- Threatening
- Tricking someone into giving information and then sharing it
Like abuse,bullying can have a huge effect on someones life
People who are bullied are more likely to:
- Have low self esteem
- Be reluctant to go to place where bullies could be
- Have anxiety or depression
- Have low attendance if the bullying is at work or school
- Have an increased risk of substance abuse
- In extreme cases bullying can lead to suicide
